Birth: 1908 at Moonee Ponds, Victoria, son of native-born Albert Edward Thomas Round (1877-1951), a painter, later farmer, of English ancestry, and Elizabeth Ellen, née Howard (1874-1961), born at Birmingham, Warwickshire, England. Marriage: 1941 at West Melbourne, Victoria, to Gwendoline Amy (Gwen), née Burton, late Johnson (1913-1991). They had one daughter and one son. Death: 2 December 1978 at SPH, Rosebud, Victoria; usual residence Woyna Avenue, West Rosebud, Victoria. Religion: buried with Anglican rites. 

  • In 1931-1937 Frank was a clerk living with his family at Kilsyth, Victoria, where his father was an orchardist.
  • He was city organiser for the Shop Assistants and Warehouse Employees Federation (SAWEF) in 1940, covering the ‘Golden Mile’ and nearby suburbs in Melbourne. In January 1942 he was appointed employee representative on the Shops Board No. 8 (Dairy Produce and Cooked Meat) and Shops Board No. 19 (Confectionary, Pastry, Fruit and Vegetable) wages boards.
  • A moderate, he succeeded A. M. Storey as Victorian assistant secretary of the SAWEF, later Shop Distributive and Allied Employees’ Association (SDA) for seventeen years in 1947. State secretary until 1972. Sometime federal vice-president and president of the SDA.
  • In later years was vice-president of the West Rosebud Bowling Club.
  • Cause of death: bronchopneumonia (5 days), disseminated bronchogenic carcinoma of lung (6 months).
