Ronald Henry (Ron) Pujolas (1921-1992) coalminer and trade union official

Birth: 1 February 1921 at Rockhampton, Queensland, son of Queensland-born parents Francis Henry Pujolas (1896-1937), hotelier and butcher, and Mabel Marie, née Didcott (1899-1962). Marriage: 16 September 1944 in Queensland to Valda Jean Patteson (1922-2017). They had four daughters and two sons. Death: 28 February 1992 at Collinsville football grounds, Colllinsville, Queensland. Religion: Anglican. 

  • Educated at Boys Grammar School, Rockhampton.
  • Began working life as butcher, but became coalminer at Styx, Queensland, in 1939. Secretary Styx No. 3 branch of Miners' Federation in 1940s.
  • Moved to Scottsville, Queensland, 1947, becoming miners' branch secretary there in 1950s. Appeared as federation witness before Coal Industry Tribunal in 1953-1954.
  • Resigned branch secretaryship and left mine in 1957 on being appointed first secretary of Collinsville and Scottsville Workers Club.
  • Cause of death: myocardial infarction, hypertension and chronic renal failure.
