William Patrick O'Connor (1877-1959) coal lumper, trade union leader, alderman 

Birth: 12 December 1877 Sydney. Son of Patrick and Margaret O’Connor. Married: 1901 Sydney, Evelyn Cicely Duffy. Two sons. Died: 7 April 1959. Buried in Catholic section of Botany cemetery.

  • Secretary Sydney Coal Lumpers' Union.
  • Convicted 27 January 1910 of taking part in meeting assembled for the purpose of aiding in the continuance of a strike and sentenced to eight months hard labour.  Released from Maitland gaol 17 May 1910. Associates also gaoled: Peter Bowling, James Butler and Daniel Hutton.
  • Alderman, City Council for Labor; City Council rep. on Metropolitan Water and Sewerage Board; Commissioner, Sydney Harbour Trust, 1922
