Henry Michael (Harry) Moloney (1890-1934) labourer and trade union official

Birth: 1890 at South Melbourne, Victoria, son of John Moloney (c.1858-1942), a storeman, born in Imogeela parish, Glenberg, County Cork, Ireland, and native-born Sabina, née Storen (1865-1936). Marriage: 1908 at South Melbourne, Victoria, to Melbourne-born Charlotte Ann Callick (1890-1962). They had three daughters and two sons. Death: 26 August 1934 at Coburg, Melbourne. Religion: Catholic. 

  • Worked in a new industry in Australia, ship building.
  • President of the Eight-Hour committee, in Victoria. Delegate to Melbourne Trades Hall Council for twenty-three years.
  • Secretary of the Ship Painters and Dockers Union from 1914 to 1934.
  • President and secretary of the Australian Labor Party’s Hawthorne branch. Branch representative at State conferences.
  • Cause of death: pulmonary tuberculosis, toxaemia and exhaustion; duration 18 years.
