Birth: 27 December 1903 at White Hill, Bendigo, Victoria, son of native-born parents Henry Govett Lyall (1867-1930), butcher, and Mary Jane, née Fraser (1872-1946). Marriage: 1926 at Bendigo, Victoria, to Jean Elizabeth Hardy (1904-1988), born in Bendigo. They had one daughter and two sons. Death: 13 July 1976 at Bendigo; usual residence Ophir Street, Golden Square. Religion: Methodist.
