George Arthur Hudson (1884-1958) plasterer and trade union official

Birth: 1884 at Lewisham, Sydney, and registered as Arthur George, son of native-born parents Thomas Hudson (1849-1919), farmer, and Mary Elizabeth, née Morrison (1857-1941). Marriage: 1907 at Waterloo, Sydney, to Annie (Johanna Margaret) Foley (1875-1966), born at Temuka, New Zealand. They had two sons. Death: 26 May 1958 at Windsor, NSW. Religion: Anglican. 

  • State secretary-treasurer of the Operative Plasterers Association, and president of the NSW branch in 1912; general secretary of the branch from 1919 to at least 1948.
  • Member Riverstone branch of the Australian Labor Party.
  • In 1945 was appointed to the reconstructed Building Industry Advisory Coordination Committee of NSW. Was a prominent delegate to Commonwealth conference on building in March 1948.
