Stanley Thomas (Stan) Hook (1893-1946) farmer and Labor activist

Birth: 1893 at Herstmonceux, Sussex, England, son of Thomas Hook (1870-1898), basketmaker and Harriet Alice, née Baker (1870-1918), charwoman. Marriage: 1922 at Perth, Western Australia to Anne Norah Eakins (1898-1947), born at Greenough, Western Australia. They had a daughter who died in infancy. Death: 20 February 1946 in hospital at Perth, W.A. Religion: Congregationalist. 

  • In 1912 arrived as an early settler in the Dukin district, WA, close to Wyalkatchem.
  • Recruited by John Solosy to Communist Party of Australia.
  • Prominent leader of Wheat strike 1930-32 and again in 1939. President of the Koorda Agricultural Society in 1937-1938.
  • Labor candidate for Mt Marshall seat in State Legislative Assembly elections in 1943.
