Frederick Davis (1866-1950) bricklayer, journalist, orchardist and politician 

Birth: 8 July 1866 at Radford, Coventry, England, son of John Davis, stonemason, and Eliza, née Moor. Unmarried. Death: 5 Feb 1950 in St Andrews Hospital, Midland Junction, Western Australia. Religion: Methodist. 

  • To Australia by early 1880s and to Victoria 1882. Worked as bricklayer in eastern states.
  • To Western Australia in 1893. From 1894 to 1899 secretary Perth Trades and Labor Council. Secretary 8 Hour Day Committee. Associated with Sunday Chronicle in 1894-1899. Founded and edited Swan Express (Midland Junction) 1900 to 1909. Then became orchardist at Greenmount.
  • Member of the Legislative Council in WA for Metropolitan-Suburban province 3 November 1911 (by-election) to 16 May 1914 when he unsuccessfully contested the seat.
  • By 1916 was secretary of the Midland District Council of the Australian Labor Federation. Sometime president Greenmount Progress Association.
