  • Organiser for Australian Shearers' Union, Victoria, 1886. Organised 1200 members in Riverina 1886.
  • Organised down the Darling River 1887. In 1888 condemned rival Queensland Shearers' Union for allegedly failing workers by tolerating Chinese labour.
  • 1890 secretary of Adelaide branch, Amalgamated Shearers Union.
