Birth: 1869 at Barnawatha, Victoria, son of Charles Joseph Chandler (1834-1907), a butcher, born in Collingbourne Dulcis, Wiltshire, England, and native-born Sarah Ellen (Nellie), née Nippress (1844-1915). Marriage: 9 May 1904 at Midland, Western Australia, to native-born Ada Emily Russell (1874-1965). They had one daughter and two sons. Death: 4 October 1959 at Fitzroy, Melbourne, Victoria.
