Evelyn, Barron née Bock (1898-1985) housewife, member of Legislative Council of NSW  

Birth: 24 October 1898, Wallaroo, South Australia. Daughter of Frederick Bock, blacksmith, and Daisy née Melville. Married: 1927 in Burwood, Sydney, George Barron, bricklayer. They had one son and one daughter. Death: 17 January 1985 at Hurstville, Sydney, New South Wales. Religion: Anglican. 

  • Educated Wallaroo Public School.
  • 1938 joined Australian Labor Party (ALP) in Concord, NSW.  Active in that branch and in State and Federal electorate councils — an expert door knocker and campaign worker.  Elected to ALP State executive, 1957-1965. Vice-President, Women's Central Organising Committee (WCOC) and President, 1964.  Contested seat of Collaroy in NSW Legislative Assembly in 1953.
  • Member of the Legislative Council of NSW 1964-1976 (retired). Active in National Council of Women, NSW. President, League of Women Voters, 1961-62.
