Margaret Craig Wannan

Widow of the late A. C. Wannan, C. C. E.; author of many well-known books, including “Marine Engineers’ Guide and Pocket Book”; for many years the engineers of Southhampton honoured the anniversary of his death by giving a free day’s outing to about 100 children—it was known as “Wannan’s Day.”

Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gilmour, land owners near St. Arnaud, where, at the request of the Bishop, a porch has been erected to their memory. Niece to Dr. and Lieut-Colonel Gilmour, Provost of Linlithgow for nearly thirty years. The three baronetcies of this family—Gilmour—are: Nova Scotia, 1688; United Kingdom, 1897 and 1926.

Australian by birth, Mrs. Wannan has lived for many years in Scotland, England and France. She has visited many countries during her travels—Italy, Germany, Belgium, Egypt, Africa, India, Fiji, etc.
