George James Walton (1890–1964)

George James Ritson Walton (1890-1964) enlisted in the AIF on 17 June 1916. He was described as being 5 feet 5¾ inches tall, weighed 118 pounds, had a fresh complexion, blue eyes and black hair. He was assigned to the 16th Reinforcements of the 23rd Battalion and proceeded to France on the Arundel in February 1917. He was returned to Australian on 25 August 1917 and discharged in January 1918 after being wounded in action (a gun shot wound to his right hand which was later upgraded to a bomb wound). He died on 14 October 1964.
