After his father, Thomas Skottowe, and older brother John, left New South Wales on the Kangaroo for Ceylon (Sri Lanka) in 1815, George Skottowe's mother took him to Tasmania in mid-1816. They returned to Sydney on the Laurel in April 1818. George left for Calcutta (Kolkata) via Batavia, on the Friendship; his mother followed on the ship Mary in July 1819. Presumably they planned to be reunited with Thomas and John in Ceylon. By the time of their departure, however, Thomas and John were resident in England.
His mother later married John Critchley in India in 1823. It is not known what became of George Thomas Skottowe.
