Hannah Kelly (c.1833-1897) a nursemaid, arrived in Melbourne aboard the Pemberton in 1849 with her two sisters Anna and Winifred, as one of the 4000 Irish orphan girls sent to the Australian colonies in 1848-1850. Hannah was born in Kilrush, County Clare, Ireland. Her parents were John Kelly, weaver, & Ann Slattery. She was employed for three years by Marin Healey, King St., at a salary of £5.
Kelly married married John Owenson in 1851 in Melbourne; the couple had ten children. She died at North Melbourne in 1905.
