NIGEL EDWIN MOFFAT was born at Orroroo, South Australia, on 1 st September, 1898, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Moffat, of Kadina. He was educated at the Wallaroo High School, and joined the Bank’s service at Adelaide in February, 1916, being subsequently transferred to the Port Adelaide Branch.

Nigel Edwin Moffat enlisted in the A.I.F. on 1st June, 1917, and left Australia in the following November. He was on active service in France, as a member of the 5th Machine Gun Battalion, until August, 1918, when he was invalided to England. In March, 1919, he was promoted to corporal and obtained his discharge at the end of the year.
