Elizabeth (Betty) Mitchell (c.1775-1825) convict

Birth: c.1775. Marriage: Was married pre-transportation to John Mitchell. Lived with Paul Page in New South Wales from at least 1814. Death: 25 January 1825 at Pitt Town, Sydney, New South Wales. Her burial was registered at St Matthews Church, Windsor, New South Wales.

  • Elizabeth Mitchell was sentenced for an unknown crime to 7 years transportation on 4 May 1808 at Lancaster, Lancashire.
  • She arrived at Sydney aboard the Canada in September 1810.
  • By 1814, and described as a widow, she was living with Paul Page on a landholding at Windsor. They were living off stores. There were no children or servants living at the residence.
  • The couple were still together at Windsor in 1922.
  • Elizabeth Mitchell died on 25 January 1825 at Pitt Town, Sydney, New South Wales. Her age was given as 50.
