George Mara, c.1916

George Joseph Mara (1895-1918), a quarryman, enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 5 February 1916, served with the 17th Battalion in France and was wounded in action on 14 May 1918. He re-joined his unit in September and died [in the field] of bronchopneumonia on 26 November 1918. He was buried at the Villers-Bretonneux Military Cemetery (Plot XVIA, Row B, Grave No. 7), Fouilloy, France.
