Maria Cole (1795-1858), the daughter of Elizabeth Cole and James Tucker, was born on 27 December 1795 at Norfolk Island. She left the island with her mother, stepfather Richard Burrows, and four step siblings, for Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) in 1808 on the City of Edinburgh, settling at Glenorchy.
Maria married William Mansfield on 4 December 1809 at St David's Hobart. She died on 3 May 1858; her cause of death was given as dysentery and general decay.
