John Malton (or Miller) was a seaman when he arrived at Sydney aboard the Borrowdale in January 1788 as part of the First Fleet. He was sent to hospital with scurvy at Rio de Janeiro on the homeward voyage and returned to the ship, cured, on 22 November 1788.
