James Johnston (c.1756- ), a 32-year-old able seaman from Shetland, Scotland, arrived at Sydney aboard the Sirius in January 1788 as part of the First Fleet. He returned to England on the Waaksamheid in March 1791. He fell ill during the voyage and was sent from sick quarters to the Gorgon on 2 April 1792. He was discharged at Woolwich, London, on 14 July 1792.
