Joshua Hutchinson, a baker, was sentenced to life transportation for highway robbery. He arrived in Sydney in 1839 aboard the John Barry. He was described as being 5 feet 3¾ inches tall, had a fair ruddy complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, and could read and write.
