Birth: 20 February 1874 at Gorton, Manchester, England, son of Joseph Hampson (1851-c.1889), fitter, and Mary Ellen, née Jones (1852-c1903). Marriage: 1904 at Albert Park, Victoria, to Rose Dudley (1878-1954), born at St Helier, Jersey, Channel Islands. They had two sons. Death: 17 July 1964 at North Coburg, Victoria.
