Lucy Pickett was born on 23 April 1804 at Windsor, New South Wales. She travelled with her parents to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the Sophia in 1818. On 16 January 1823 she married Samuel Bird at St David's, Hobart. Following his death in 1830 she married Edward Durrant on 22 December 1830 at New Norfolk. She died of chronic bronchitis on 23 June 1866 at Glenorchy, Hobart. Her age was given as 64.
