EBEN DONOVAN DRAPER, the son of Mr. Eben Carter Draper and Mrs. Emily Jane Draper, was born on 22nd June, 1889, at Allandale, New South Wales, and was educated at the Maitland High School.
He joined the staff of the Bank at Warialda on 30th July, 1907, and in the following month was transferred to Tamworth. In September, 1909, he was sent to Quirindi; in January, 1911, to the Bathurst Street (Sydney) Branch; in the following April, to Yerranderie, as assistant; in March, 1912, to Head Office; thence to Mosman in July, 1912; and to Rockdale in June, 1914.
He enlisted on 11th May, 1915, as a private in the 18th Battalion, A.I.F., and was promoted to corporal. Eben Draper served in Egypt, Gallipoli and France, taking part in the Battles of Pozieres, the Somme, and Bullecourt, amongst other engagements, up to the end of the war, and escaped both wounds and sickness. He received his discharge in September, 1919.
