Arthur Dougherty, was a marine in the 2nd (Portsmouth) Company when he arrived at Sydney with his wife and newborn son aboard the Prince of Wales in January 1788 as part of the First Fleet. Dougherty served in Captain James Meredith's Company as Port Jackson. Two more children were born in the colony. The family returned to England on the Gorgon in December 1791. Dougherty's wife and one of his daughter's died during the voyage.
