Elizabeth Binkin was born in 1834 to convict parents. Her father, Nicholas Henry Binkin, was sentenced to seven years' transportation for stealing a coat. He arrived in Sydney aboard the Marquis Hastings in 1828.
Her mother, Elizabeth Pearce Webb, was sentenced to seven years' transportation for stealing a gold ring. She arrived in Sydney aboard the Fanny in 1833.
