Rupert Alfred Kimber Clack (1885-1963) enlisted in the AIF on 17 May 1915. He gave his occupation as butcher. His height was given as 5 feet 8 inches, and he had a dark complexion, grey eyes and dark hair. He was a driver with the 1st Royal Australian Naval Bridging Train. He arrived at Lemnos, in Greece in July 1915 and served on the Gallipoli Peninsula in September. That same month he was sent to a hospital in Malta suffering from dysentry and was then transferred to London. He returned to Australia on 17 March 1916 suffering from shell shock.
