John Chew, a marine in the 39th (Plymouth) Company, arrived at Sydney aboard the Charlotte in January 1788 as part of the First Fleet. He served at Port Jackson in Captain Watkin Tench's company. He had a son John with Mary Ingle before returning to England on the Gorgon in December 1791.
