Mary Bishop (c. 1756–1828)
On 16 February 1791 at the Old Bailey, London, Mary Partridge was convicted of stealing a silver watch with Joseph Smallwood, who was convicted of receiving the watch. Mary received a sentence of seven years transportation and Joseph fourteen years. They both left Yarmouth, England on the Pitt on 17 July 1791 and arrived in New South WAles on 14 February 1792.
As in England, Mary lived with Joseph Smallwood as his common-law wife in the Parramatta area until his death in 1819.
Mary married widower John Bishop at St John's, Parramatta on 29 March 1824. She died four years later on 7 Dec 1828, aged 72 years.
