Elizabeth Barnes was tried at the Old Bailey on 12th September 1787 and transported for seven years for theft, on the Second Fleet vessel Lady Juliana. She gave birth to a child, Maria, in 1791, fathered by acting third lieutenant Henry Waterhouse. Elizabeth died at the birth of a second child, Rebecca, to Thomas Smith on 9 Apr 1794.
