John Dingle Bacon, twin son of Jane Elizabeth and Samuel Bacon, was born on 3 June 1790 at Sydney. The family returned to England aboard the Gorgan on 13 December 1791; John died at sea during the voyage on 6 April 1792. Robert Clark, who was on the ship, wrote that 'The children are dying very fast ... the hot weather is the cause of it'.
