GEORGE BRYANT AYLIFFE, the son of the late Mr. H. C. H. and Mrs. Leonara Mary Ayliffe, was born at Glenelg, South Australia, on 10th March, 1897. He was educated at St. Peter’s College, Adelaide, and joined the service of the Bank in Adelaide on 9th May, 1914.

He enlisted on 18th May, 1915, and embarked a week later, joining the 27th Battalion and proceeding to Gallipoli. There he was wounded and sent to hospital at Malta. After con¬valescence he was offered a position in the hospital, but refused it, and was sent to France.

After three months’ service he was killed instantly while attending to wounded in a dug-out near Messines on 29th June, 1916.
