John Marshall, master of the Scarborough, arrived at Sydney in January 1788 as part of the First Fleet. His brother (whose first name is unknown was a seaman on the ship).
Marshall captained the Scarborough on its second voyage to the colony, arriving at Sydney in June 1790.
The Marshall Islands were named after John Marshall after he charted the islands when sailing to China from New South Wales in 1788.
