Charles Clifford St. Pinnock (?–1916)

SECOND LIEUTENANT CHARLES CLIFFORD DENHOLM St. PINNOCK

From South Yarra. Educated at Melbourne Grammar School, 1899-1901. Secretary of James Hentry & Company, Melbourne. Enlisted 1914 in the 8th Light Horse. Badly wounded at The Nek on August 7, 1915, he spent two months at Luna Park Hospital, Heliopolis. One of the last to leave Gallipoli, remaining behind to hold the trenches until the troops had embarked and sailed. On Sunday August 20, from heavy fire in a shell hole at Mouquet Farm. A shell exploded at his feet, necessitating amputation of both legs above the knees. He died the following morning and was buried at Warloi.
