
Great grandfather David Murray. Left Scotland in sailing ship "Portland” on April 1, 1824, arrived at Hobart Town (Van Dieman’s Land) September 10, 1824. He joined there his brother Hugh (whose eldest son, Hugh, was one of the first settlers in Colac, Victoria). Born, Toorak.
Daughter of J. F. Jackson, Esq., of Belfast, Ireland.
Wife of Ivan Maxwell, M. D., B. S., M. Sc., B. Agr. Sc., Physician to out-patients Melbourne Hospital, and lecturer in Physiology and Clinical Bio-chemistry, Melbourne University; grandson of John Maxwell, Esq., whose first station property, “Yanakie," included Wilson’s Promontory.
After finishing school, proceeded to University and took a science Course, graduating with Final Honours and M. Sc. degree. For some years Demonstrator and Lecturer in Bio-chemistry at the Melbourne University.
Two daughters, Marian and Rosemary; one son, Murray. Education received at St. Catherine’s and Wadhurst M. C. E. G. S. Preparatory.
