CHARLES EDWARD DUN was born on 10th November, 1895, at Whitton, New South Wales, the son of Mr. Francis Boyce Dun and Mrs. Hanorah Dun, of Ganmain, New South Wales. He was educated at St. Joseph’s College, Sydney; entered the Bank’s service on 27th November, 1913, at Coolamon, New South Wales, and was transferred to Tumut in November, 1914.

Charles Edward Dun enlisted on 1st November, 1916, and was appointed to the 108th Howitzer Battery of the 8th Field Artillery Brigade, 3rd Division, A.I.F. He was promoted to the rank of staff-sergeant.
