Rachel Clayfield embarked with her marine husband William Clayfield on the Alexander for New South Wales. They transferred to the Prince of Wales in August 1787 and arrived in the colony in January 1788 as part of the First Fleet. She washed for James Brown while in the colony. She accompanied her husband to Norfolk Island on the Sirius in March 1790. The couple returned to England on the Gorgon in December 1791.
