ERIC CALDWELL BURROWS is the son of Mr. Alfred James Burrows and Mrs. Elizabeth Burrows. He was born at Wanaaring, N.S.W., on 24th March, 1895, and was educated at the Nyngan and North Sydney Public Schools.

His service with the Bank began on 14th April, 1913, when he was appointed to the Head Office Staff. He was transferred to Hay, N.S.W., on 1st May, 1914, and to Burrowa, as ledgerkeeper, on 10th August, 1915.

Eric Burrows enlisted early in January, 1916, and was a member of the 57th Battalion. He was promoted to corporal on 7th February, 1919, and after the Armistice returned to Australia.
