Lady Barrett (Marian)

Born, London. Father, Charles Rennick, of England. Educated, Girls High School, Bayswater, England; Germany; studied painting under Mr. Folingsby at National Gallery, Melbourne. Married, 1881, Frederick Joy Pirani, Lecturer in Physics, University of Melbourne, who died in 1881. October 31st, 1888, married James William Barrett, Medical Practitioner, of Melbourne. Family, five children: two sons and three daughters. Cara, Keith Joy (born 10th October, 1891, and killed in the War, 16th April 1917), Bertha (married John Canning, Oakbourne, N. Z., 1927), James Noel (married to Nancy Mair, of Willow Tree, N. S. W., 1929), Jeanette (married Benjamin Henry Marks, of Suva, Fiji, 1927). Three grand-children: Diana Marian Canning, Elizabeth Barrett Canning, Mary Carolyn Barrett.

INTERESTS. Exhibiting Member of the Victorian Artists’ Society; Foundation Member of the Committee of the Montagu Free Kindergarten; Member of Council of the College of Domestic Economy, Lonsdale Street, since July, 1912, now known as Emily McPherson College.

HOBBIES. Painting, Music, Gardening.

CLUB. Alexandra.
