Robert Barns was a boatswain on the Friendship which arrived in Sydney in January 1788 as part of the First Fleet. In 1787 he had been flogged on the Sirius for consorting with women convicts on the Friendship.
He transferred to the Alexander on 23 October 1788 when the Friendship was scuttled off Borneo.
