Andrews, Leonard (1873–1962)

Leonard Andrews Birth: 30 May 1873. Marriage: Amy Elizabeth Coleman, 1895. Death: 28 April 1962, Sutherland, Sydney.

Served apprenticeship at tannery and shoe factory, St Mary’s, NSW. Member of Operators and Rough Stuff Cutters' Union before its amalgamation with Australian Boot Trade Employees Federation. 1908, elected as Executive Officer of NSW Branch. 1910-1921, held positions of President, Vice-President, and delegate to Federal Council. 1921, elected Treasurer, a salaried position, and remained in office until retirement in 1951. Delegate to Apprenticeship Council and Advisory Committee to Department of Footwear;  instrumental in improving conditions of apprentices.
